The Realm of Feror
Wras-Kalla of the Mountain
City-State: Raskan (Population: 10,000; Government: Monarchy)
Raskan is a city in the mountains; some say Wras-Kalla herself slumbers within the peaks. It is ruled by a royal family of dwarven nobles, who lord over dwarven aristocracy and pay good coin to individuals willing (or needing) to sell themselves into indentured servitude. These servants make up the most of Wraska’s population, and though they are treated decent enough, they still labor for their ‘betters.’ They mine in place of the dwarves, using tools the nobles have long-since forgotten to wield. They serve as militia and honor guard to defend Raskan from its enemies. They man the shoppes and taverns and brothels, all for Raskan coin. Strangely, they also make up most of the clergy of Wras-Kalla; the goddess has long since stopped communicating with her ‘children’ but more and more servants (and not all of them necessarily being dwarves) have heard her call. When they do (and bear the mark of Wras-Kalla), they are uplifted from their previous station and forced to serve her faith. While some of the nobles have heard the call, few give up their lives of wealth and intrigue to administer supplications to the divine mother. There are only two types of followers of Wras-kalla: the Legate who travels throughout Feror preaching the word of the Stone Mother, and Cantor who provides services throughout Raskan for those who still believe in honoring her ways.
